Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture

Annie Pfeiffer Chapel
I'm a sucker for odd things. Among them is Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture. An opportunity to visit the campus of Florida Southern College (largely designed by Frank Lloyd Wright) was to great to miss. Florida Southern College has the largest concentration of Wright designed structures anywhere in the world with 10 buildings and two additional structures on campus, and is in the National Register of Historic Places.

Those small shinny bits of stained glass are about 1/2".

The extensive network of Esplanades was put under construction in 1940

Florida Bound

I love living in Seattle, but nothing beats some sunshine in the middle of a cold, rainy winter. Here are some pictures of Tampa's sights.
Visited the Saturday Market in Ybor City

Ybor City is a historic neighborhood in Tampa, Florida located just northeast of downtown. It was founded in the 1880s by cigar manufacturers and was populated by thousands of
immigrants, mainly from Spain, Cuba, and Italy. For the next 50 years, workers in Ybor City's cigar factories would roll millions of cigars annually.

The Hernandez Gonzmart family has been making restaurant history since 1905 when they opened their landmark Columbia Restaurant in Tampa's Historic Ybor City, which today is Florida's Oldest restaurant, and the World's Largest Spanish restaurant. Today, 4th & 5th generation family members work hard to preserve the family's legacy that their great-grandfather Casimiro Hernandez Sr. created over 100 years ago when he opened the Columbia as a corner cafĂ© frequented by local cigar workers.

New Year's Resolutions

I'm doing my best to keep my only resolution...make more quilts. Here is one that should be titled "What was I Thinking".

If you must know I love these colors together and I had a blast quilting it. I took inspiration from the fabrics and went to town!

The Quilting Loft

While you are in Ballard checking out the new shop be sure to stop  at The Quilting Loft.
2622 Northwest Market Street  Seattle, WA 98107  (206) 706-0445

It's a new, well new to me, location across the street for the old one. Light and bright and the parking lot is a major plus! Owner Angie has chosen a carefully edited collection of cotton fabrics for her store. These modern prints would be great for non-quilting projects too: skirts, aprons, etc.

Paint the Town Blue! or Green!

Maybe this is taking it a bit too far even for me who loves nail polish!
I love all the jewel tones. The world is stocking up on emerald everything in preparation for the serene, green 2013 predicted by Pantone with Emerald, its latest Color of the Year crowning.
Or you might prefer “Indigo Night.” as the striking statement color associated with wisdom and honesty. The rich blue shade was determined through a study of social and economic trends from around the globe.

Happy New Years

There was a time in my life that I just loved a New Year’s Eve party– it was another excuse to wear a favorite sparkly dress, sip champagne, and throw confetti in the air. Actually write down New Year’s resolutions and reveal it to others (research says this is the best way to keep a resolution).

Dance like no one is watching and have a Happy New Year

PS This years only New Years resolution? Make more quilts. There I've written it down and shared it with others, now I know it will come true.
