The Value of Coloring Books

Adult coloring books in a whole new dimension to help you unwind after a busy day. I received these two as gifts. I tried, I really tried to color in them for relaxation. But to no avail. As I looked through them, I saw other things. Quilting designs! And lots of them. There are some really great shapes to inspire you if you are into applique too.

Quilt Show - Neptunes Weave

Appliqued fish and plant life of a tropical undersea scene are a showcase for colorful embellishing.  The graduated sea background is pieced.  The net brings all the elements of the quilt together.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Prayers of thanks and special thanksgiving ceremonies are common among almost all religions after harvests and at other times. The Thanksgiving holiday's history in North America is rooted in English traditions dating from the Protestant Reformation. It also has aspects of a harvest festival, even though the harvest in New England occurs well before the late-November date on which the modern Thanksgiving holiday is celebrated.

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas

We are hard at work!
Spent a fabulous afternoon at Windmill Gardens. The goal at Windmill Gardens is to make everyone’s special day at the nursery a perfect one, and boy did they! I made a date with friends to create a one of a kind 24” holiday wreath built with an array of fragrant greens, cones, & berries.

Inspiration is Where You Find It

I don’t know about you, but I often feel the need to recharge my creative juices. You
may be inspired by a walk in nature, or writing ideas for the first 20 minutes of your day - before eating breakfast or talking to anyone. Listening to music or books on tape might also be inspirational.
Creativity has been attributed to everything from divine intervention to chance. Some say it is a trait we are born with; others say it can be taught. I think creativity is letting new ideas into your conscious brain.

For me, new ideas usually stem from new experiences. These experiences often come from travel. It can happen in far away places or as close as your hometown.

Recently I went to one of my favorite haunts; Rhinestone Rosie’s. The shop, owned

by Rosalie Bryzelak Sayyah, is located in Seattle’s upper Queen Anne neighborhood. Rosie and her daughter Lucia, have on display thousands of pins, earrings, bracelet’s, dress clips, barrettes and tiaras. Rosie specializes in the repair and restoration of pre 1950, costume jewelry.

This may sound odd, but remember, I do love all things sparkly. A long look through the cases filled with different shapes and colors of jewelry sets my mind to wandering. Letting my eyes wander the cases and allowing thoughts to flow, recharges me. New ideas flood my brain. Then I can't wait to get into my studio and create something new and magical. Check out her store. You will be inspired for sure! http://rhinestonerosie.com/

Guest Artist - Tink

From the Fast Finishes workshop
Received this email from Tuscon!

Melody,  I finished it!  Thank you again for a fun and educational class last Thursday. As you can see, the new walking foot and I need to have a discussion about how a 1/4 inch seam should look.
