Guest Artist - Betsy Vinegrad

Dear Melody,

I took “A Fine Line at City” Quilter in NY on December 3. Attached are photos of the quilt I brought to class after quilting as you suggested. I am really happy with the results! I hope you can see the quilting in the photos.

I stitched concentric circles with matching threads using the walking foot. In the border, I stitched parallel lines perpendicular to the edge. I used 12 different thread colors. The outer circles are only stitched 3/4 the way around so no stitch lines cross. I started with small circles in the middle using freezer paper as a guide. As the circles got bigger, I used a guide bar attached to my walking foot. The parallel lines were marked with a hera marker.

Thanks for a great class! It was the push I needed to finish this top and the inspiration to tackle the unmentionable number of UFO’s in my studio.

Best regards,
Betsy Vinegrad

I love this quilt and finally found out the name of it. Betsy named it "Summer Sorbet". It's so beautiful!
